Am I Coachable?

I guess the question should really be, “Am I coachable now?”  Many of us put off making needed changes for a variety of reasons.  Most of the time it simply boils down to an attitude of “I may not like where I’m at or where things seem to be going, but staying here is preferable to facing the unknowns (“There be monsters there” as the old maps used to say) of what might happen if I try to change.”  Wanting to change is one thing.  Interacting with a “change agent” (which, after all, is what a coach is) is another.

Here’s a little self-quiz for you to take.  Ask yourself how much you agree with the following 6 statements.  Completely?  Somewhat? Not at all?

  1. I sincerely need and want to change areas of my life for the better.
  2. I am not looking for a quick fix.
  3. I am not looking for a “one-size-fits-all” road-map to fulfillment.
  4. I am open to honest feedback and candid assessments.
  5. I am the only one who can make my life better.
  6. I view coaching as a worthwhile investment in myself.

If you agreed “Completely” with 4 or more of the statements, you’re probably in a coachable frame of mind.  If you agreed “Not at all” with any of the statements, a coaching relationship would probably be difficult for you at this time.  Either way, why not schedule a FREE Discovery Coaching Session with me to explore what coaching might look like for you or what other course(s) of action you might take to resolve or move past the difficulties you may be encountering.  What do you have to lose?
